I hold a B.S. from the University of Washington with a minor in anthropology. During my studies, I discovered a passion for both literature and ethnography. Inspired by international luminaries such as Toni Morrison, Gayl Jones, W.E.B. Du Bois, Gabriel García Márquez, and George Orwell, I write to elevate marginalized communities. I am also a 2014 graduate of the Artist Trust Edge Program—a professional development course for literary artists.
I have a passion for creating captivating characters and otherworldly settings. My work transcends conventional storytelling, offering readers a unique glimpse into what lies beyond the pulsating membrane between the living and the dead.
Bruised Fruit explores the journey of a young Black and Yakama Native woman traveling to the funeral of her former teacher and old nemesis—a Catholic nun—to reclaim a family heirloom from the nun's cold, rigor mortis grip. Along the way, she meets a handsome drifter of Lakota heritage, and they join forces.
